Projects and Placements
As part of their course, our students may be required to complete a placement. We believe having the opportunity to deliver projects in-house, through FCSA Sports, can help create opportunities for all to be more active on our campuses.
Here are some projects available for those looking for a placement, and some highlights of past projects completed by our students.
Available Projects
Kirkcaldy Rugby Football Club - Sports Science and Nutrition
With a growing youth section and the physical demands of senior rugby, we’d welcome any sports science students interested in working on projects with the club. There’s potential for real-life case studies in sports science and nutrition that would greatly benefit both the players and students’ learning experiences. This collaboration could provide practical applications of their studies within a dynamic sports environment.
Football
Students have asked for recreational football in the West of Fife.
Looking for more experience in leading/coaching football? Take charge of this recreational activity.
Kirkcaldy Rugby Football Club - Media/Matchday Announcing
We have an immediate opening for a student or team of students to take on the role of matchday announcer. This involves managing pre-match music, setting up the sound system, and making announcements throughout the day. Duties include welcoming everyone to Beveridge Park, introducing the teams, referees, sponsors, and mascots, and announcing scorers and running scores during the match. At half-time, the announcer also shares updates such as 50/50 draw results, Colts or 2nd team scores, and upcoming fixtures.
We’re looking to enhance this role, so there’s plenty of room for students to bring their own creativity and ideas to the table. It’s a fantastic opportunity for media students to gain hands-on experience. We’d also be open to exploring other media projects, such as regular podcasts or additional content creation.
Badminton
Recreational badminton was a hit in 23/24! We need an enthusiastic and approachable leader to keep this going, and create opportunities for our more competitive students to train for College Finals.
Inclusive Sport
Our Supported Programmes students are eager to take part in different inclusive sports as part of their course.
This is an exciting opportunity to have free reign on an inclusive project!
Scottish Curling – Curling 360
We are taking part in this national programme to give students with Additional Support Needs the opportunity to play floor curling.
A great opportunity to hone your inclusive practice skills with the potential to work with ice curling clubs.
Current / Past Projects
Mindful Movement
This club was formed to provide a friendly and non-competitive way for those struggling with their mental health to socialise and try some physical activity.
Signposting Guidance, Inclusion, FCSA and other College departments and external organisations to raise awareness of the support on offer in a judgement-free space.
Brazilian Jiujitsu Club
Created to introduce the sport to a new audience, the BJJ club also gave those going to university a way of finding their community once they left college, while trying a new sport in a safe environment.
Winner of the Team of the Year award at Fife College and FCSA Awards 2024, members of this club represented the College at national competitions.
